Natraja is depiction of the Hindu God Shiva, the divine dancer, in a Natya Shastra dance mudra (pose) called ‘Tandava’ or ‘Nadanta’, holding Agni (Fire) in his left back hand while the front hand is in ‘Ghajahasta’(Elephant hand) or ‘Dandahasta’ (Stick hand) mudra. The front right hand, with a snake wrapped around it, is in ‘Abhay mudra’ (Have no fear) and the back hand is holding a ‘Damaru’ (a musical instrument).
