The Hindu Goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu (the sustainer of the universe), is the goddess of prosperity and opulence, bestowing wealth through eight unique forms collectively known as ‘Ashta Lakshmi’. One of the eight forms is ‘Gaja Lakshmi’ or goddess Lakshmi with elephants(Gaja), where Lakshmi is seen sitting on a Lotus in padsmasana yogic posture. She holds Lotus flower in two arms, while remaining two arms are in ‘abhaya mudra’ and ‘varaya mudra’. Elephants flank her an both sides. Gajalakshmi is giver of boundless prosperity, good luck and abundance. When placed facing north, it showers growth, wealth, zest and pleasure to those around.
